A unique concept to make Aurora Hunting as successful as possible
Aurora Road Trips are a aurora hunting concept invented by us, Lorenzo and Luisa. We came up with the idea to create a flexible multi-day Aurora trip to. We believe that it’s the best way to see the Northern Lights.
How does the Aurora Road Trip work?
Our Aurora Road Trip is a multi-day Aurora Hunting Trip in which we only move by van based on the weather to have the best chances to see the Northern Lights. That is the goal of the trip. You will arrive and return to Rovaniemi, but we can end up in northern Finland, Sweden or Norway or in all three countries. If there is time during the day we visit national parks, the fjords or we go hiking depending on where we are. In the evening we hunt for Northern Lights.
With this type of tour we book last minute hotels to maximise our chances of seeing the Aurora. If possible we try to sleep under the Northern Lights and have the accommodation right on point. In the last night we will hunt Auroras only if it is possible on the way back to Rovaniemi. Note that a big part of the trip can be driving.
Photos & success rate
With us you have a Northern Lights hunter, photographer and driver with you. The photos of the trip are included in the price and you will get all of them after the Aurora Road Trip. Every single Aurora Road Trip is individual and super flexible. So far we had a Aurora success rate of 100% in Aurora Road Trips, which means we saw the Northern Lights in every single trip. 🙂

The cost of the Aurora Road Trip is 300 Euros per person per day. In the price the accommodation is not included.
The cost for accommodation for the guides is covered by the participants and divided through all of them. Usually we stay in cottages in the arctic nature. The average cost for the hotel is between 80 and 140 euros per person per night (the guides part included).
In September and October we are offering – depending on demand – camping outdoor Road Trips where we sleep in tents or small wooden shelters. Like that you get the pure outdoor experience. Check it out:

Night excursion in search of the Northern Lights carried out on 02.01.2025.Sensational experience, in addition to having seen the aurora several times we were able to appreciate Lorenzo's skills and passion. A capable, skilled boy, with an innate passion for the aurora. His eyes shine whenever the aurora appears and his goal is to make the people who choose to hike with him happy.We traveled for about 3 hours before finding the ideal place where we could admire this beauty of nature.In addition to this, Lorenzo does not spare himself from taking photos and videos of everyone whenever he is asked, in fact he is often the one who offers himself.Low costs, even low if you consider the beauty and quality of the experience.It goes without saying that I recommend anyone who wants to see the aurora to book the tour with him!Thanks Lorenzo, it was magnificent 🙏🏻❤️
Lorenzo made our dream of seeing the aurora come true.After an unsuccessful first attempt, despite all of Lorenzo's incredible effort, we went out a second evening and witnessed the most incredible thing of our lives.Lorenzo studies, researches, runs, and even though he has been doing this job for many years now, he is passionate and gives you incredible adrenaline and enthusiasm.Seeing the aurora on New Year's Eve was the icing on the cake of our stay in Finnish Lapland and we can never thank Lorenzo enough for his helpfulness and knowledge.
Excellent experience with Lorenzo the night of 12/31. Receiving the new year with the auroras was something unforgettable. Between 12/1 there were no auroras and we stayed waiting, what arrived between 1 and 2 in the morning were incredible auroras. We went on an aurora hunt with Diana on Christmas Eve, and it was an incredible experience. Diana was knowledgeable, straightforward, and bluntly honest about the chances of seeing the northern lights—she doesn't sugarcoat things. We drove 3.5 hours to Sweden and spotted a weak aurora at our first location. Not giving up, Diana used real-time updates from various apps to guide us to a second location, where we were lucky to witness a medium-intensity aurora that started strong and transitioned into a stunning dance. It was truly a dream come true for us. From our conversations during the drive, it was clear that Diana puts immense effort into making the hunt a success, often going above and beyond. While the experience is a bit pricier compared to other vendors, it is absolutely worth every penny.
We were lucky enough to get a last moment spot with Lorenzo and his team. Had been following them for quite some time and they were always the first choice for booking the hunt for the northern lights. Booked them without any hesitation.Diana was our guide for the night, and trust me, she was more passionate than either of us for hunting the lights, which made us even more excited. Although, the night started early, we were lucky enough to see the lights very early into the hunt. While they could’ve ended it right there, they decided to hunt further for better and a more spectacular show of lights, which we did get.We drove further and Diana had the perfect spot in mind, with a beautiful frozen lake on either side. She made us wait in the car until it was time for the perfect dance of the aurora.We had an unforgettable experience thanks to Diana.The only thing that could be improved were the photos clicked, but all in all a good experience
We had a Aurora Hunt booked for 21/12/2024 and our guide was Diana. We can easily say that this was one of the best experiences of our lives! Diana was such a sweet person and she made our night so much fun. She shared very helpful and interesting information about the aurora with us and she was also really patient while waiting for the lights to show up. She is also a really nice photographer and our pictures turned out amazing. 🙂 We drove all the way to the Swedish borders and the lights were really strong that night. Even when we saw the lights at the first place she drove us to a second one, always checking the stats and we can say that at the second spot the lights were even better! She is great and please dont waste your money to other tours! Lorenzo and Diana will do everything to show you the Lights!
It was a very good experience to go hunting for the northern lights. As a way to improve the tour, it is recommended that the host bring coffee or tea and some cookies to make the company much more enjoyable, since the cold hits and sometimes you have to wait a long time for the auroras to appear.
Diana was an amazing guide she is patient and knowledgeable about the Auroras and we had a magical experience.
We really had a unique experience as we were lucky enough to witness an aurora explosion! Diana looked up exactly where it might be possible to see the Northern Lights and led us to a field where we had a perfect view of the Northern Lights and the starry sky. Should be one of the best Northern Light guide, he knows what he is doing and try his best to bring you to the best aurora that night, he is also not the most expensive Northern Light Tour. He got us right under the aurora.
I went on aurora hunting tour with Diana. We drove all thr way to sweden from finland for the same (~3 hours one way). She is very dedicated and knowledgeable and makes sure that we witness this magical experience, doesn't matter how far we need to drive for the same.

Diana is an amazing tour guide and clearly very passionate with aurora. We had an amazing experience aurora hunting with her. She is clearly experienced and know where to go to find a good spot to see aurora. Thankfully the weather is good and we had great photos of the northern lights. She checks the weather forecast, find a good spot with Gmaps, drives us, and took picture of us with the aurora. She is an all-rounder. Definitely recommend going with her for your aurora hunting trip.
We had an amazing aurora hunt! Diana was very determined to help us hunt for the auroras and we managed to see the beautiful dancing auroras after 3.5h of driving. Definitely recommend!
Out of this world, once in a lifetime experience. Luisa and Lorenzo really go all out to make sure you have the best experience and they are so friendly and knowledgeable about the auroras, and the fact that they capture it all with photos for you is just the cherry on top! Our guide was Diana, she is very passionate in what she is doing. Very talkative and easy person to talk to. Prior to hunt aurora, she explained about the science first then we go hunting. We went for two locations as the first one got covered by the cloud. Good thing was, she will not let us go home until we saw the best aurora. We saw the aurora danced above our head and it was magical. Totally recommend her to anyone coming to Rovaniemi 🙂
It was a very magical night and we were lucky to see the auroras dance for us . There is no time limit on the tour and the whole team seems very passionate about what they do and why they do which is endearing .Next time wish we see the auroras overhead and some more colors 🤞❤️Word of caution : It will be freezing with the van being the only respite and no bathrooms around .

Diana our guide played a significant role in making the experience special. She was incredibly kind, approachable, and patient. She explained in detail how to read aurora measurements, which added an educational and engaging aspect to the trip. In an assessment of 1 to 10, they are 1 million. Lorenzo and Luisa offer their heart and soul to hunting the northern lights. They bring together the available indicators, with a passion for the event that cannot be described. There are several companies that offer the tour, but none like ARTIC ROAD TRIP.We know that the hunt will not always be easy as it is a nature event and nothing can be done about it , but with them, it will be at least fun and exciting, perhaps, rewarded with the great aurora show. We were lucky enough to have an aurora show every single night, thanks to their dedication! They rock!

I went with Diana on the 9th Dec. While most of the other tour providers cancelled theirs (because the weather in Rovaniemi was bad and hence low chance of seeing Aurora!), Diana drove us all the way to Sweden and we ended up having the BEST Aurora explosion I could ever ask for!And Diana is a superb host, she is very passionate and so positive throughout the whole journey of 10 hours. Would love to do it again when I have the chance next time.
I went on a northern lights hunting road trip in November this year and it was incredible. Diana guided us on the trip and did an excellent job. It was almost 700km and 12 hours in total, but the time flew by. We had a class about the Northern Lights and it was incredible! Oh, the photos are amazing too! Professional photography!I know that some nights can be easier and others more difficult, but the big difference is that Diana loves what she does! She clearly wants to see Aurora as much as you do. There are no distractions with a Lapland barbecue and bonfire. The focus is on seeing Aurora, and she was willing to just go home after getting it.It's not a money ride, Diana handles it all with humanity and passion.Thank you very much! I'm so happy to have found Arctic road trips and to have gone hunting with Diana! She was instrumental in making my dream come true. It couldn't have been better!

It was a lot better than expected!We saw northern lights on 4/4 nights, out of which 2 were absolutely stunning and in the other 2 we were impressed that we could see the northern lights under such foggy conditions.There were also numerous hikes or nice and interesting attractions we stopped by, not to mention the Icehotel we were lucky to visit.The guides were so nice all the time, the places we stayed in were almost all amazing, there were stops to grab groceries.Would definitely recommend!
The experience of chasing auroras with Arctic Roadtrips with Luke as our coach has been nothing less than incredible.We were group of 7, picked comfortably from our accomodation n the journey later was so enriching. 30 mins into the drive we spotted aurora but Luke made sure we went to a spot where the views would be beyond amazing . This was a wonderful experience, I will always remember. Luisa and Lorenzo are very professional, passionate and perfectionists. Never giving up on finding the best aurora or the only cloudless spot in all of Lappland. Also the small hikes and walks were well chosen and a fun activity during day time. They are absolute experts on aurora, we learned a lot about aurora, bz, bt, cme, the arctic or why icing lakes make hilarious noises. I loved also all of our cottages, they spontaneously chose while being on the road.Thank you for the great photos and this even greater experience. Diana was our guide for the night and it was amazing! She manages to find the best time and spots to capture the auroras and takes lots of great photos of everyone, all while entertaining the group with her positive and fun nature. We did the road trip from November 9th to 12th with Lorenzo, Luisa and Luke and it was fantastic!! We left Rovaniemi on the 9th at noon and headed to Sweden, where already at sunset we began to see the Northern Lights, first on the banks of a lake and then over another frozen lake, where we also ate pizza, and it continued for 6 hours straight!! Despite the mega show the previous evening Lorenzo wanted to find clear skies for the following evening too and so, after seeing the ice hotel and taking a ferry we arrived in Norway, not very far from Tromso. Already on the ferry we started to see the aurora, but as soon as we disembarked we had time to set up the photographic equipment before the sky above us was tinged with green, pink and red with the most beautiful spectacle the kids had ever seen !!!Despite the spectacle he saw the other two days, Lorenzo still looked for a clear sky, and he succeeded!! It's a guarantee!!! Except for the low solar activity, which he can't do anything about, he will be able to find a patch of clear sky to see it!Highly recommended road trip!!!
I will forever thank my stars that I came across arctic road trips in a sea of people who promised the best aurora sighting experience. As a solo female traveller looking to celebrate her 30th birthday by seeing the northern lights, I will be forever grateful to Lorenzo and Luisa for helping me make some really special core memories. I did not know what to expect going in but from the moment we started this crazy journey, I felt safe and at ease even through the wild and exhilarating ride that this road trip was. These two amazing humans drove for 23 hours in 4 days across 3 countries. They cooked meals for us and at times Lorenzo also fused some random bulbs that were ruining the vibes. They shared their knowledge and stories, they made us feel like a team on a mission. It was not just aurora sighting it was truly chasing the northern lights and honouring its majestic beauty. The trip not only made me witness a beautiful phenomenon but made me feel a part of something bigger. Diana is an experienced guide, she brought us to chase the aurora and we can see the aurora at all the spots with naked eyes even though it was not at good conditions at all. It was so stunning and thanks Diana!

Lorenzo and Luisa are the best, their passion and the entire road trip was an incredible experience. My sister and I had never seen the auroras before, during the road trip we saw them all 4 nights in Norway, Sweden and Finland. We spent the day doing hikes and visiting national parks, saw reindeers, shooting stars and dancing auroras. Lorenzo, Luisa and Luke go above and beyond in making the trip a surreal experience. We saw auroras near igloo cabins, in Norway 400km north from the arctic circle and near a lake with a beautiful aurora reflection. Lorenzo and Luisa are the best and we highly recommend booking a trip with them if you want to see the auroras. Their passion and knowledge on how to see the auroras was so incredible to witness in person. Highly recommend planning a trip with them and not only do you get a chance to see the auroras, during the day we visited incredible viewpoints that were unbelievable.

Everything in this country can be a dream but if you really want to make sure you have great aurora hunters you are in the right place... especially we have the help of Diana, who we can assure fights endlessly in search of the right place to appreciate the fabulous spectacle of the northern lights, even if you have to drive for 800km if necessary!!! In the end it's always worth spending a great night with her!Also, since we were not lucky the first night, this is nature and it is not always possible even if you are in the right place, it made it possible for us to stay a second night! We booked the tour in October. Unfortunately, there was bad weather on the chosen date and they managed to move the excursion to the next day. Lorenzo, a true hunter, accompanied us, he drove for 4 hours in search of clear skies, checking data and weather conditions and finally we saw the aurora dancing above our heads. Highly recommended for the professionalism, honesty, enthusiasm and dedication with which they dedicate themselves to trying to create a unique experience.

We had the most incredible time with Diana as our Aurora hunting guide! We were lucky enough to go on an aurora hunting trip with Diana. From our interactions, we could tell that she is very knowledgeable and very passionate about the auroras. I have been thinking about going on an aurora hunt for at least 10 years and had never managed to do it, for professional reasons (lack of time) or financial reasons, since it is a very expensive trip for someone coming from South America, or simply because I couldn’t find the right people to help me. It was an experience, just WOW. Very nice communication and always keep you up to date on how the weather is developing and when we finally start.We had children with us and got a guide who spoke German, which was of course great for the children 🙂 Luisa was super sweet and nice. We had a good chat and Luisa responded to our wishes. Everyone was allowed to take X-photos :). A great experience with lots of northern lights.
Can’t recommend this company more!! You can tell that Luisa and Lorenzo are absolutely passionate about chasing the auroras and do their very best to share this passion with their tour guests 🌌✨The tours are slightly more expensive than other typical aurora tours, but considering the value that you get out of it (>6 hours of chasing, lots of interesting information, drives to different locations if necessary, and a friendly guide who actually CARES if you see the Northern lights), it is SO worth it!!!With another tour I went on, we were dropped in a random location with a cloudy sky, weren’t able to see anything at all, and still had to pay over 70€ for nothing; a waste of money and time.. On the other hand, the One Night Aurora Tour with Lorenzo was amazing! Even though the aurora wasn’t very strong that evening, he constantly checked the forecasts and made sure we would be in the perfect place to see the lights. On nights with lots of waiting, you can warm up in the car. Lorenzo made sure to gather everyone once the aurora showed up. He gave great tips on how to photograph the aurora and took great photos of us as well. On the way back to Rovaniemi, we even spontaneously stopped at another location to see them again for a few minutes. I genuinely think a tour with Arctic Road Trips is worth every penny and can’t wait to book it again when I’m back in Finland. Thank you for the great tour!

One of the most incredible experiences ever!We went for a night tour with Diana and it was super! She really loves what she does, this is clearly her thing, and her energy makes the experience totally worth it.The night was really cloudy and Diana drove for more than 400km north (and then the same back to Rovaniemi) to find a clear sky and show us the aurora. His energy and excitement to chase the lights was infectious - this is saying something coz he has a great track record chasing the lights and catches the pretty much every day!😁Highly recommend Arctic Road Trips, they pick you up from your place at Rovaniemi, take you to great spots nearby or afar, teach you the basics of chasing and aurora photography, and also take your pictures!
Maybe the best moments in my life. We’ve been with Diana during the Aurora Hunting and she managed to find the perfect spot for the perfect Aurora. In our case we didn’t have to move that far from Rovaniemi (like 130km), but she demonstrated to be ready even to drive 400km and more. That’s because she is in love with her job, it’s her passion and it can be easily understood by the chats with her during the trip. The atmosphere is always funny in the car😂😂.5stars out of 5 with no doubts!!

Aurora hunting with Lorenzo and Luisa was a spectacular adventure. Their passion is infectious! They are constantly working to find the best locations to see the Auroras and then organizing hotels and meals, and it all worked out amazingly. Our light shows were incredible.
